Municipio 4.3.0

We are excited to announce the release of Version 4.3.0, which brings a range of enhancements to image handling within our platform. This update introduces a brand-new image handler that processes images more efficiently “on the fly,” significantly improving performance and image management.

Municipio Theme (5.18.1):

• Enhanced Image Handling: The new image handler optimizes image processing in real-time, making it more effective and responsive.

• WebP Format Default: Images are now served in the WebP format by default, reducing file sizes by 50-95% while preserving near quality of the previous quality. Images are now automatically served in the WebP format, regardless of the original format uploaded by the editor. This change leads to faster load times and a more streamlined user experience. This change may result in slightly washed out images and some loss of details, we will continue to improve this in the forthcoming releases.

Modularity (6.25.1): 

• Slider: The slider image sizes has been increased, and now renders the max displayed size of 1528pixels.
• Hero: The image size has been increased and now renders at a size of 90% of 1920pixels as an compromise between image size and target value.

WordPress (6.6.2): 

This release includes a maintanaince release of WordPress. This release fixes some minor bugs, more information can be found on WordPress website.

Important note: As the new image handler begins to process and serve images, your site’s performance may initially be affected. This temporary slowdown is expected until all images have been displayed (eg. processed). Once this phase is complete, you should notice significant improvements in both image loading times and overall site efficiency.
